- Pre-existing medical conditions (diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorders)
- Pregnancy-related conditions (gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, placenta previa)
- Lifestyle factors (smoking, drug use, obesity)
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Gestational diabetes (elevated blood sugar during pregnancy)
- Preterm labor (contractions before 37 weeks)
- Excessive weight gain or edema (swelling)
- Vaginal bleeding or spotting
- Decreased fetal movement or abnormalities in fetal growth
- Medical: Close monitoring of maternal and fetal health through regular prenatal visits, blood tests, and ultrasounds. Medications may be prescribed to manage conditions such as hypertension or diabetes.
- Surgical: In severe cases, surgical interventions may be necessary to prevent complications, such as cesarean section for delivery if vaginal delivery poses risks to the mother or baby. Other surgical procedures may be performed to address specific complications, such as placenta previa or placental abruption.
