Vaginal delivery is the natural process of childbirth where the baby is born through the birth canal. It is the most common and preferred method of childbirth when there are no complications.
Benefits include a shorter recovery time, lower risk of infection, improved baby’s lung function, and early mother-baby bonding through skin-to-skin contact.
Most women recover within 4-6 weeks, though some may experience perineal discomfort, vaginal bleeding, and mild pain, which gradually improve over time.
Signs include regular contractions, lower back pain, water breaking, and cervical dilation. If contractions are strong and frequent, it’s time to go to the hospital.
While generally safe, potential risks include perineal tears, prolonged labor, or the need for assisted delivery (forceps or vacuum). However, proper medical care minimizes these risks.
